A taxonomic resolution of the Hibbertia exasperata species group (Dilleniaceae) in Western Australia
K.R. Thiele & Carol Wilkins
Abstract:
Taxa in the Western Australian Hibbertia exasperata species group have long been difficult to adequately discriminate due to poorly defined taxonomic boundaries. In this revision, 15 species are recognised based on leaf and floral characters, with clear boundaries between species allowing the adequate placement of almost all specimens. The following taxa are recognised: H. exasperata (Steud.) Briq., H. pungens Benth., H. rostellata Turcz., H. nutans Benth, H. rectifolia (F.Muell.) K.R.Thiele comb. et stat. nov., and the new species H. alleviata K.R.Thiele, H. crassa K.R.Thiele, H. lateritica K.R. Thiele, H. leiopleura K.R.Thiele, H. leptopleura K.R.Thiele, H. merredinica K.R.Thiele, H. najula K.R.Thiele, H. remota K.R.Thiele, H. wubinensis K.R.Thiele, H. wyliei K.R.Thiele and H. xanthopidion K.R.Thiele.
