A new species of Mesophelliaceae (Hysterangiales), Castoreum queenslandicum sp. nov., is described based on genetic and morphological assessment. This increases the count of described species in the ectomycorrhizal fungus genus Castoreum to three, alongside C. tasmanicum G. Cunn. and C. radicatum Cooke & Massee.
