Description of two new species of Miturga (Araneae, Miturgidae) collected on Bush Blitz expeditions

Jessica R. Marsh [1*, 2] & Robert J. Raven [3]

Abstract:

The Australian endemic miturgid genus Miturga Thorell, 1870 currently contains 15 species, which are distributed across Australia. Here we describe a further two species, both collected on Bush Blitz expeditions in South Australia (Yalata-Fowlers Bay, 2021) and Queensland (Olkola Country, 2015). Miturga umbra sp. nov. is only known from caves of the Nullarbor Plain, South Australia, where it was collected from the dark zone and the twilight zone. Miturga olkola sp. nov. is known from the Valley of Kimba Plateau in the Olkola region of Queensland.
