As for M. kerri except for the following: Length 1.7 mm; anterior mesoscutum protruding forwards slightly more prominently; posterior mesoscutum with slightly more fine longitudinal striate sculpturing; fore wing with r less than half length of 1RS.

Remarks
This species is very similar to M. kerri differing only in its size, have a relatively shorter r vein in the fore wing, and more obvious striate sculpturing on the posterior mesoscutum. The anterior mesoscutum also protrudes forwards more noticeably, however this may be an artefact caused by the medio-dorsal part of the scutum being slightly collapsed. It is only known from the single specimen listed above and because of this it is not possible to assess the level of character variation and whether there are sufficient differences to describe it as a separate new species. This said, the collecting locality, substantially extends the distribution of the genus to include Tasmania.
