I am a Brazilian botanist working on Commelinales systematics, especially Commelinaceae, Haemodoraceae, Philydraceae, and Pontederiaceae. My studies on Commelinaceae have focused on the taxonomy of some genera (e.g., Aneilema, Buforrestia, Callisia s.l., Commelina, Dichorisandra, Floscopa, Murdannia, Siderasis, Stanfieldiella, Tradescantia, and Tripogandra; plus the overall systematics, biogeography, and classification of the family. My studies on Pontederiaceae have focused on Heteranthera and the generic limits in the family. My studies on Haemodoraceae have focused on the Neotropical Haemodoraceae, plus the overall systematics, biogeography, and classification of the family. My studies on Philydraceae have focused on the taxonomy of the group and the evolution of morphological characters.
I also work with the systematics of Nymphaeales, Mayacaceae (Poales), and Basellaceae (Caryophyllales).
