Michelle Waycott

I am particularly interested in the challenge that unravelling evolutionary processes for plants, and other elements of the flora, poses where genomic divergence is unresolved. Issues like polyploidy, reticulation, introgression, aneuploidy, clonality and longevity will have an impact on the phylogenetic distinctiveness of species. Ultimately how this influences the development of species concepts and then how this translates to the management and protection of our biodiversity. I am passionate about protecting collections while making them useful and supporting the development of the next generation of taxonomists and evolutionary biologists.
