Volker Framenau
I am a Senior Research Fellow at the Harry Butler Institute, Murdoch University (Perth, Australia) principally studying biosecurity and quarantine issues in relation to terrestrial invertebrates. My research also includes documenting the biodiversity of the Australian terrestrial and subterranean invertebrate fauna, in particular spiders and other arachnids. I am particularly interested in the online dissemination of biodiversity data and an enthusiastic macro-photographer, which resulted in senior-authoring two field guides on Australian spiders.
At the Harry Butler Institute, I am responsible for a large invertebrate collection of more than 50,000 specimens, principally from the north-west of Western Australia (Barrow Island, Pilbara), but also from other parts of the state (Goldfields, South-west). We are very interested to make this collection available for scientific study.
